Kerman - Kirman Rugs

Kirman carpets are like no other Persian carpets. For centuries there has been an independent design trend in Kirman in southeast Persia. This unusual small format carpet has a field well covered with tiny flowers, diminutive palmettes and recurving vine segments. The ivory field exhibits a “millefleurs” pattern in detail tones of brown, gold, taupe and beige. The equally soft-toned main border is en-suite with floral sprays and palmettes. There is an air of repose and relaxation. This rug does not try too hard, does not assert itself unnecessarily. Unlike most Kirman weavings, there is no cochineal mulberry red, pistachio green or dark indigo blue. This Kirman is a great choice for a boudoir, dressing room or other space where the feminine reigns supreme.

Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.

If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.

A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
