Needlepoint - Textiles

One of a pair of arched panels possible Entre Fenetres, the orange yellow grounds display each an arch of fruits and flowers and a swag of similar character. There is a suspended trophy of arbor and arrows trailed with a ribbon in a lone knot, indicative of Cupid's activity, although he is not visually present in either piece. At the base is a vase and bouquet.-The main scene on the one panel shows Europa and the Bull while the other panel is Leda and the Swans. The compositions are typical of Boucher's (1703-1770) manner although they do not derive directly from known paintings. The two young women in one panel characterizes Boucher's painting of Leda and the swan. The presence of two swans rather than one does not alter the references. The style is wholly that of the 1750-1770 period in France, though these are of course late 1850-1870 versions in an earlier style.-

Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.

If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.

A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
