Malayer Rugs
Antique Persian Malayer Runner 5'3 x 12'2. Malayer, located just east of Hamadan in northwest Iran, has long been a center for finely woven tribal and village rugs. While often grouped under the Hamadan umbrella, Malayer rugs distinguish themselves through tighter weaves, more complex patterns, and a delicate touch in color composition. This piece exemplifies that legacy. It’s a rare find—suited as much to a contemporary gallery setting as it is to a well-appointed traditional home. Colors: interchanging taupe gray ground/ivory/blues/terracotta.
Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.
If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.
A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
