Kerman - Kirman Rugs

-A wonderful antique circa 1900 Kirman rug in tones of blue with an abrash in the blues. An abrash is a natural change in color that occurs when different dyes are used and is very common in antique pieces which give individuality to the rug. Kirman is the capital of the province in south Persia of the same name. Situated 2000 meters above sea level. As elsewhere in Persia carpet weaving declined during the 18th century and was revived during the second half of the 19th century, since when Kirman carpets have enjoyed a considerable reputation. -

Vacuum your rug frequently and use a vacuum which uses suction and does not have bristles. If possible, set vacuum to low power setting and vacuum the rug up and down and do not use a back-and-forth motion.

If possible, rotate the rug every few years to allow foot traffic to be spread evenly and shade the rug from direct sunlight to avoid fading in areas.

A rug pad is recommended on all surfaces to prevent slipping and stop marking if on floors with grooves or lines. Professional cleaning is recommended every two or three years.
